Krishna Jayanthi or gokulashatami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna throughout India. it falls on the Tamil month Avani, star Rohini and ashtami thidi. Sometimes star and thidi will fall on different days and each family will have its own tradition to celebrate either or star or thidi. If you are not sure when to celebrate one common practice is to follow the temple in your place. This year Shri krishna jayanthi falls on 5th September and 6th September.
