  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Ghee to smear
  • Oil or ghee to fry paratha


  • Take wheat flour, salt and oil in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix well thoroughly.
  • Add water little by little and make a soft smooth dough.
  • Knead well and make the dough pliable. Rest the dough for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 10 equal parts.take one dough ball and roll into a thin circle.
  • Smear ghee all over.
  • Fold the edges towards the center as shown in the photo.
  • Bring the edges together and make a square.
  • Now gently press and make a big square paratha
  • To fry the paratha:
  • Heat a tava first.
  • Place the rolled paratha. Cook in medium flame for few seconds.
  • Gently flip and press slightly. The paratha will puff up.
  • Now flip and add oil or ghee towards the edges. Cook till slight golden brown spots appear.
  • The edges turn crispy too.
  • Serve flaky plain parathas with any curry or pickle and curd.
