Ingredients

  • 3 idlis cooled and cut into bite size cubes.
  • 1 tablespoon maida
  • 1 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
  • For manchurian sauce
  • 1/2 green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 baby corns chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons spring onion whites
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 2 tablespoons spring onion greens
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Cut cold idlis into bite size cubes and take in a mixing bowl.
  • Add corn flour, maida, pepper powder to the idlis and toss well. Add 1-2 tablespoons water and toss well just to bind.
  • Deep fry the idli cubes in hot oil and set aside.
  • In the same kadai remove excess oil retaining about 2 tablespoons of oil. Add chopped ginger garlic, spring onion whites. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped onions and saute for few minutes.
  • Add chopped baby corns (if using), chopped bell peppers and saute in high flame for 3-4 minutes. Let the veggie be crunchy.
  • Add soy sauce, ketchup,pepper powder, salt, sugar and mix well. Let the consistency thicken a bit.
  • Add the fried idlis, toss quickly and remove from flame. Add spring onion greens and serve hot.

Notes

1. I have not added any corn flour + water in the sauce, you can add if you are making this recipe for more servings.
2. Baby corn is optional.
3. You can add chilli sauce for more hot version.
