Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup/50 grams very cold butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped veggies
  • 2 tablespoons grated cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200C. Peel and grate the carrot. Chop bell peppers very finely.
  • Measure the wheat flour and take in a mixing bowl. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add to the same bowl. Now rub the butter with the wheat flour with your fingers till the mixture resembles crumbs.
  • Add the grated veggies,grated cheese,salt,pepper powder and dried oregano.
  • Mix well and add just 1-2 tablespoons water and knead to a tight dough.
  • Pinch small balls from the dough and shape like cigars. Arrange the cigars in a baking sheet.
  • Bake the shaped straws in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  • Allow to cool for 5 minutes,serve vegetable cheese straw immediately or store airtight for 3-4 days.

Notes

1. I used multi grain flour for this recipe
2. Chop the veggies really fine for easy shaping.
3. You can finely chopped sweet pumpkin along with other veggies.
