Potato fries recipe | How to make Indian crispy potato fries

Potato fries recipe- Crispy Indian style potato fries without deep frying. These lihht and tasty fries are best served with sambar, rasam or khichdi.

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes peeled and sliced into rounds or wedges
  • 2-4 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • water

Instructions

  • Rinse and peel the skin off the potatoes. Slice them into 2mm rounds or thin wedges.
  • Bring a large pot of water to boil with a pinch of salt. Add the sliced potatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Drain and rinse the potatoes under cold water. Take the par boiled potatoes in a mixing bowl.
  • Add required salt, chili powder, turmeric powder. Further add 2 tablespoons rice flour. Toss well.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a shallow frying pan. Place the potatoes as single layer and cook in low flame for 5-7 minutes. Flip and continue to cook till the fries turn crispy and golden. It will take around 15 minutes of low flame cooking. 

Notes

To bake the potato fries.
Arrange the spice powders tossed potato slices on a well greased baking tray.
Baking for 10 minutes at 200C in a preheated oven.
Remove the tray from oven, flip the fries and bake again for 10-12 minutes.
