Ingredients

For paneer marination

  • 1.5 cups cubed paneer/ Indian cottage cheese 1 inch
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons garam masala powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons cumin powder
  • Salt
  • Water

For outer covering and crust

  • 3/4 cup gram flour
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  • Add cubed paneer to a mixing bowl. Add chili powder, garam masala powder and cumin powder. Add a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Take gram flour, chili powder, salt in another mixing bowl. To that add water gradually and make a lump free batter. The batter should be thick enough for paneer cubed to hold it well. If the batter is too thick popcorns will turn hard after frying. If the batter is very thin it will not coat the paneer cubes properly.
  • Add the paneer cubes to the prepared batter and coat well.
  • Roll each batter coated paneer cube over bread crumbs. Arrange on a plate and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  • Heat oil for deep frying.Once the oil is hot fry the paneer cubes in medium flame. Fry until the paneer cubes turn golden and crispy.
  • Drain excess oil and serve paneer popcorn hot.
