  • 3 large potatoes
  • 1 big onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon crushed ginger garlic
  • 2 green chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons oil


  • heat a pressure cooker with 2 teaspoons oil.
  • temper with cumin seeds.
  • Add crushed ginger garlic, green chilies and saute well.
  • Now add chopped onions and saute till they turn soft.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn mushy.
    Now add the cubed potatoes and mix well.
  • Add spice powders and salt. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • Once the pressure settles down, simmer for 3-4 minutes if needed.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve aloo jhol hot.
