aloo jhol recipe
Aloo jhol- a classic Indian side dish with potatoes for Indian flat breads
- 3 large potatoes
- 1 big onion chopped
- 1 tomato chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon crushed ginger garlic
- 2 green chilies
- Salt to taste
- 2 teaspoons oil
heat a pressure cooker with 2 teaspoons oil.
temper with cumin seeds.
Add crushed ginger garlic, green chilies and saute well.
Now add chopped onions and saute till they turn soft.
Add the chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn mushy.Now add the cubed potatoes and mix well.
Add spice powders and salt. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
Add 1 1/2 cups water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure settles down, simmer for 3-4 minutes if needed.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve aloo jhol hot.
