  • 200 grams mawa or khoya
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Nuts for garnishing


  • Bring the mawa to room temperature and crumble it well. Take the crumbled mawa in a greased pan and add sugar.
  • Mix well and start heating.
  • Cook in low flame for 8-10 minutes until the burfi mixture turns into a soft mass. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Transfer the burfi mixture into a greased plate or parchment paper. Spread and level with a spatula. Cool down and cut into pieces. Store and serve barfi as required.


1. The recipe can be doubled.
2. You can add rose water or saffron instead of cardamom powder
3. You can add 2 teaspoons milk powder for whiter barfi.
