Ingredients

  • 6 pav buns
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • 3 big tomatoes pureed or very finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 2 tablespoon pav bhaji masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed ginger garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • cilantro leaves
  • lemon wedges for serving
  • 6 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Heat 3 tablespoons butter in a tava. Once the butter melts add finely chopped onions. Saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
  • Add finely chopped bell peppers and saute well for 3-4 minutes.
  • now add very finely chopped tomatoes and mix well. Add some butter if needed. Saute for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add salt, chili powder, pav bhaji masala powder and sugar. Mix very well. Cook for 1012 minutes till the tomatoes turn mushy and butter is released from sides.
  • Add 1/2 tablespoon butter and mix well. Move the whole masala to one side of the tava.
  • Now take a pav bun and slit in the middle. if you wish you can cut it too.
  • Place the cut pav on the tava and toast well from both sides.
  • Spread some masala inside the pav and close it.
  • Spread some masala on the top too. press well.
  • Toast the pav well on all sides. Repeat the same with remaining pav. Serve masala pav hot.

Notes

1. You can add cilantro leaves for garnishing.
2. You prepare the masala early and heat it along with pav at the time of serving.
