  • 3 cups cauliflower florets
  • 1 big onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 10 curry leaves torn
  • 3 teaspoons oil
  • salt, to taste


  • Separate the cauliflower florets and wash once
  • bring a large pot water to boil. Add salt and mix well. Add the cauliflower florets and let boil for 5 minutes. Remove from flame. let the florets remain in hot water for 5 more minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  • heat oil in a pan. temper with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Add chopped onions and saute for 3 minutes.
  • Add the cauliflower florets and mix well.
  • Season with salt and chili powder. Mix well and cook in medium flame for 8-10 minutes.
  •  You can add 2 teaspoons rice flour for crispiness. Once done, serve cauliflower poriyal hot
