Bhindi Fry Recipe

Punjabi Bhindi fry is a delicious, crispy and dry okra fry that you can make in 15 minutes. Best served with rice, dal or roti.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil groundnut oil or sesame oil or any vegetable oil
  • 250 grams okra rinsed, dried and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt , to taste

Instructions

  • Gently rinse the bhindi (okra) in water and pat them dry thoroughly. Slice and remove the crown and tail of the bhindi. Chop them into big pieces. Set aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan. temper with cumin seeds.
  • Add the chopped bhindi and saute well for 2 minutes.
  • Now add salt and mix well.
  • Next add garam masala powder.
  • Add chili powder and turmeric powder. Mix and saute in medium flame for 3-4 minutes.
  • Continue to cook for 10-12 minutes in open pan until the bhindi is dry and crispy. Serve hot with rice or roti.
