Chocolate Makhana Recipe

Chocolate makhana recipe is a delicious and quick treat for kids you can make with makhana. It takes just 10 minutes from scratch and tastes wonderful, rich and chocolaty. Crispy toasted makhana or fox nuts  tossed in a quick homemade chocolate sauce is perfect for kids snack box or as snack with your evening tea. Here is how to make easy chocolate makhana recipe at home

Ingredients

For roasting makhana

  • 2 cups phool makhana or fox nut seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ghee

For chocolate sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or cinnamon powder
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • heat 1/2 teaspoon ghee in a pan. Add 2 cups makhana and roast in low flame until crispy and color changes slightly. It will take around 12 minutes in low flame.
  • In the mean time combine sugar, butter, cocoa powder, vanilla or cinnamon, instant coffee powder and dark chocolate squares in a sauce pan.
  • Add 1/4 cup water and a pinch of salt. Mix well and start cooking low flame.
  • keep whisking and cook in ow flame until the sauce bubbles and thickens well.
  • Once done, add the roasted makhana and toss very well.
  • Spread on a tray lined with baking sheet and dry for 5 minutes.
  • Finally dust with some cocoa powder and serve with tea or badam milk or pistachio milk.

Notes

If you have ready made chocolate sauce just toss the required amount in roasted makhana and serve.
Store only after the makhana dries up well.
Dusting with cocoa powder helps in reducing stickiness
