Baked Tortilla Chips (Nachos Chips)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups maize or yellow corn flour
  • 4 tablespoons wheat flour can use plain flour too
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • salt to taste

For Making Chips From Readymade Tortilla

  • 6 extra thin corn or plain tortilla
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • salt to taste
  • chili powder to taste

Instructions

Oven Baked Tortilla Chips Recipe

  • Preheat your oven at 425 F or 190 C.
  • Combine maize flour, wheat flour, salt, chili powder or paprika, oil and salt
  • Add water gradually and make a soft yet stiff dough. Do not knead the dough for long time.
  • Roll the dough into paper thin circle (1/7 or 1/8 ” thick).
  • Using a sharp knife slice into triangles. Using a fork prick all over to avoid puffing up.
  • Arrange the slices on a greased or parchment lined baking tray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges crisp up the chips turn golden.
  • After 10 minutes of baking, flip the chips and bake the other side for remaining time.

How To Make Tortilla Chips With Ready Tortilla?

  • You can use flour or corn tortilla for this recipe.
  • Stack around 4-6 tortillas and cut them into triangles.
  • Toss your seasonings and few drops of oil.
  • Arrange as single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the chips crisp up well.

Notes

  • To make gluten free nachos chips just use maize flour and roll the dough between parchment paper.
  • You can double the recipe.
