Atta Halwa- Atte Ka Halwa Recipe

Atta halwa or atta ka halwa also known as wheat halwa recipe is a traditional Indian sweet or dessert prepared with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar & green cardamom powder.
This quick wheat flour halwa is super easy to make & perfect for festivals, poojas and for those sudden sweet cravings. This delicious pudding like sweet tastes excellent when served warm as dessert or even as snack with tea or coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • few saffron strands
  • chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Heat 1/2 cup heat in heavy bottomed pan for few minutes. Add 1 cup whole wheat flour to it.
  • Mix very well.
  • Start roasting in low medium flame.
  • Roast until the wheat flour turns light brown, aromatic & nutty. Lower the flame.
  • Add 2.5 cups boiling water to the roasted flour and mix very well. Maintain low flame and keep stirring continuously until all the water is absorbed.
  • Now add sugar and mix well in low heat.
  • Adding sugar will make the flour mixture a bit thin, so keep stirring in low to medium heat until the sugar dissolves properly. Now you can add little ghee.
  • Now add cardamom powder, saffron and chopped nuts to aate ka halwa
  • Mix very well thoroughly. Remove from heat.
  • Serve wheat halwa warm. You can add more chopped cashews, dry fruits like raisins before serving.

Notes

Serving Suggestions & Storage

Atta halwa tastes excellent when served piping hot off the pan. You can serve it as dessert or snack.
While you can store this wheat halwa in refrigerator, always reheat it gently with some ghee for best tasting halwa.
Store any leftovers in airtight container and reheat before serving.
