Sharing a very easy to make butter popcorn recipe here today. Though This may not be the authentic butter popcorn recipe served in theaters, this butter popcorn recipe is very healthy and tasty one that you can serve as snack. Gets ready in less than 10 minutes and serves crowd too.
Use a big heavy pressure cooker for popping corns. They rapidly increase in volume so a vessel to hold them is very important. Here I have sauteed the kernels with butter, chili powder and salt for even mixing. By this way the spices get evenly distributed rather than mixing them after popping the kernels. But if you want to make multiple flavors then you can pop the plain corn and keep the spices separately. See notes for details.
To make butter popcorn recipe we just need 4 ingredients. Popping corn kernels, butter, salt and chili powder. Heat a pressure cooker and melt the butter. Add the spices, saute well and add the corn kernels. Saute in low flame for 1-2 minutes. Once one or two kernels start to pop, close the cooker with lid upside down and wait till all the kernels pop. Homemade butter popcorn is ready to serve 🙂

1. Heat a big and sturdy pressure cooker. Once the cooker is hot, add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil. Mix well and let the butter melt. Add chili powder, salt and mix well. Add the popping corn kernels. Saute well for 2 minutes in low flame.
2. Once few kernels start to pop, close the cooker with lid upside down. Do not place the gasket.
3. Once the popping sound stops and all the kernels are popped, switch off the stove and wait for any remaining kernels to pop, for 2-3 minutes. Open the lid and stir once. Serve butter popcorn as snack.

Notes
2. You can pop the kernels with just butter and add spices as you wish. Keep chili powder, pepper powder and salt separately and mix as required.
3. You can even add cinnamon powder and sugar instead of chili powder
4. Make sure the cooker is big and sturdy.
