I so love khova sweets but used to stay away as I had to make khoya at home from scratch every time. These days I get good khova from stores so I made few khova based sweets to share here. I had few reader’s requests for easy sweets for diwali 2016 and this khova coconut ladoo is a must try one.
To make coconut ladoo with khova recipe you just need 3 main ingredients and some flavorings of choice. Unsweetened khova, sugar, desiccated coconut are the main ingredients. I have used rose essence, cardamom powder for flavor and crushed pistachios for garnish. You can use cardamom powder, pista essence or any other flavor of your choice. You can very well use freshly grated coconut but you need to roast it well to get rid of the moisture. Do not use sweetened coconut flakes for this coconut ladoo recipe.
Serve coconut ladoo as sweet or dessert after meal. You can make this and share as edible gift for diwali 2016.

Step by step coconut ladoo recipe
1.Being khoya to room temperature if you had stored it in fridge. Crumble the khova well
2. Heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan. Add the crumbled khova and saute well in low flame for 3-4 minutes.
3. Add 1/4 cup sugar and mix well. Cook in low flame till the sugar dissolves and mixture turns in soft mass.
4. Add the desiccated coconut and mix well. Add rose essence and cardamom powder.
5. Mix well and cook till all the moisture is gone.
6. Remove the mixture to a bowl. Apply some ghee to your palms and make small ladoo from the mixture. Allow the ladoos to set for 15 minutes. Store in airtight container. Serve coconut ladoo as dessert or snack.
