MATAR KA NIMONA RECIPE
UP style matar ka nimona recipe. With fresh green peas found everywhere in markets here is a very delicious fresh peas curry you can make in no time. This is a very different, flavorful and slightly runny curry with green peas, potatoes and few basic spices.
- 2 cups fresh green peas
- 3 `tablespoons oil
- 1 large potato peeled and cubed
- 1 tej patta
- 2 cloves
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 inch ginger peeled and crushed
- 3 garlic cloves peeled and crushed
- 2 green chilies slit
- 3/4 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 2 tablespoons coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Take shelled green peas in a mixer jar and pulse once or twice.
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan. Add the cubed potatoes and fry until golden. Drain and set aside.
In the same oil, add tej pattta, cloves and cumin seeds. Saute well.
Add chopped onions and saute till they turn soft. Next add crushed ginger garlic and slit green chilies. Saute well till raw smell goes off.
Add chopped tomatoes and saute well. Add the crushed green peas and mix well.
Next add salt, chili powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and saute for few minutes.
Add 2-3 cups water to get the desired consistency. Bring to a boil and cook fr 3-4 minutes.
Add the fried potatoes, garam masala powder and coriander leaves. Mix well and remove from flame. Add lemon juice and serve matar ka nimona hot.
