Paneer recipes are always a hit with everyone and our home is no different. I do make many Indian paneer recipes like palak paneer, paneer lababdar as side dish for roti or rice. Chole paneer masala is one such easy, no grind paneer recipe that you can make in a jiffy if you can soaked chickpeas handy. As opposed to traditional chole recipe, this chole paneer does not use any chole masala powder. I have used garam masala and coriander powder. You can also use a pinch of amchur for tangy flavor and taste.
To make chole paneer recipe, white chickpeas are used. You have to soak the chickpeas for good 8 hours, drain and pressure cook. The rest procedure is same as making punjabi chole just that instead of chole masala powder, garam masala is used and finally some paneer cubes are tossed in.
Chole paneer tastes good with naan, kulcha, roti or even jeera rice. You can also add it in chole bhature platter.

Step by step chole paneer recipe
1. Soak white chickpeas in plenty of water for 8-10 hours. Drain and pressure cook until the chickpeas are thoroughly cooked. Set aside.
2. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons butter. Once the butter is melted and hot, temper with 1 teaspoon cumin seeds. Add finely chopped onions and saute for 2 minutes. Add ginger garlic and 2 slit green chilies. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
3. Add finely chopped tomatoes and saute well. Cook till the tomatoes leave out fat from the sides.
4. Add garam masala, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
5. Add cooked chickpeas and mix well. Season with salt. Add 1/2 cup watwr and cook for 5 minutes.
6. Add paneer cubes and toss gently. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add amchur powder and kasuri methi. Serve chole paneer with roti or rice.

1 CUP = 250 ml
Ingredients
- 150 grams dried white chickpeas
- 200 grams paneer cubed
- 1 big onion finely chopped
- 2 large tomatoes finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies slit
- 1 teaspoon crushed ginger garlic
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt
- Amchur powder
- Kasuri methi
- cilantro leaves
- 2 tablespoons butter
