As a Kid I had always loved to eat to chilli idli or idli fry rather than hot idlis with sambar, but now nothing like piping hot idli with sambar :). Again these little treats with idli will be devoured by toddlers and kids 🙂
To make idli manchurian recipe you need the same set of ingredients like soy sauce, spring onions as in any Indo chinese manchurian recipes. Cold idlis or a day old refrigerated idlis work best as they are easy to cut and fry. Even if your idlis are fresh, you can always keep them in fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Idli manchurian recipe is so quick and easy to make, it hardly takes 30 minutes to put this dish together. You can serve idli manchurian as a snack or pack in tiffin or a starter in an indo chinese meal along with veg fried rice, noodles, chilli potatoes etc.

Idli manchurian recipe with step by step photos.
1. Cut cold idlis into bite size cubes and take in a mixing bowl.
2. Add corn flour, maida, pepper powder to the idlis and toss well. Add 1-2 tablespoons water and toss well just to bind.
3. Deep fry the idli cubes in hot oil and set aside.
4. In the same kadai remove excess oil retaining about 2 tablespoons of oil. Add chopped ginger garlic, spring onion whites. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped onions and saute for few minutes.
5. Add chopped baby corns (if using), chopped bell peppers and saute in high flame for 3-4 minutes. Let the veggie be crunchy.
6. Add soy sauce, ketchup,pepper powder, salt, sugar and mix well. Let the consistency thicken a bit.
7. Add the fried idlis, toss quickly and remove from flame. Add spring onion greens and serve hot.

Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon maida
- 1 tablespoon corn flour
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
- For manchurian sauce
- 1/2 green bell pepper chopped
- 2 baby corns chopped (optional)
- 2 tablespoons spring onion whites
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger peeled and finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 2 tablespoons spring onion greens
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
- Salt
