I make rava idli or oats idli for breakfast at times and I always think about making this ragi idli. I make ragi dosa often and we like the taste. So I made this ragi rava idli recipe in similar lines of my rava idli recipe and the result was awesome. The flavor of ragi was so good in this ragi rava idli recipe. Even if you do not ike ragi give this healthy ragi rava idli recipe a try and you may like it.
To make ragi rava idli recipe we need ragi flour. I have used sprouted ragi flour here. Rava, curd, tempering are the other ingredients. I have used very minimum quantity of fruit salt here. If you prefer you can add more fruit salt for more fluffy idli.
Serve ragi rava idli with a spicy chutney. It tastes wonderful with spicy tomato garlic chutney and coconut chutney. Is this platter not a tempting breakfast ?

Step by step ragi rava idli recipe
1.Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a pan. Temper with mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, chopped ginger green chilies and asafoetida. You can even add chopped veggies like onion and carrot. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
2. Add fine rava to it and saute well. Add ragi flour, give a quick stir and remove from heat. Allow the mixture to cool thoroughly.
3. Add 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons curd to the cooled mixture. the curd should be slightly sour and well whisked.
4. Add salt and 1/4 cup water. Mix well. The batter should be of idli batter consistency.
5. Now grease the idli plates well and keep ready. Just before steaming add fruit salt to the batter. Once fruit salt is added it will bubble up. Now mix it very well.
6. Pour the batter into the greased idli plates and steam for 12-15 minutes. Once done serve ragi rava idli hot or warm with chutney.

1 CUP = 250 ml
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup ragi flour
- 1/2 cup rava
- 1/2 + 2 tablespoons curd
- 1/4 teaspoon eno furit salt
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt to taste
- For tempering
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 teaspoon channa dal
- 2 green chilies finely chopped
- Small piece of ginger minced
- 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves
- 6-7 curry leaves
Instructions
