So when may readers requested for this hotel style red chutney recipe, I made it for breakfast today and sharing the recipe today itself :).

To make hotel style red chutney recipe we need onion, tomato, red chilies and coconut. Tamarind is also added. Addition of tamarind increases the life of chutney too. You make this chutney as thin or thick as you prefer.

Step by step red chutney recipe.
1. Heat 1 tablespoon gingely oil in a kadai. Add red chilies and.cut onions. Add tamarind and saute well.
2. Add chopped tomatoes and saute well till the tomatoes turn mushy. Cool the fried ingredients thoroughly.
3. Take all the ingredients in a mixer jar. Add grated coconut. Add salt to taste and grind to a smooth chutney.
4. Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a small kadai. Add 1 teaspoon mustard and let it splutter. Add the tempering along with oil to the prepared chutney. Mix well and serve red chutney with idli or dosa.

1 CUP = 250 ml
Ingredients
- 2 big tomatoes chopped
- 1 onion chopped
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1 small amla sized tamarind
- 3-4 red chilies
- salt
- 1 tablespoon gingely oil
- For tempering
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon gingely oil in a kadai. Add red chilies, cut onions, tamarind and saute well.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute well till the tomatoes turn mushy. Cool the fried ingredients thoroughly.
- Take all the ingredients in a mixer jar. Add grated coconut. Add salt to taste and grind to a smooth chutney.
- Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a small kadai. Add 1 teaspoon mustard and let it splutter. Add the tempering along with oil to the prepared chutney. Mix well and serve red chutney with idli or dosa.
Notes
2. You can add curry leaves along with mustard in tempering.
