This skillet pizza recipe must be one of the most requested recipe here next to pressure cooker cake. Somehow I was never comfortable trying skillet pizza recipe. I am always used to bake pizza in the oven. Last month I invested in a very good cast iron skillet and I was really eager to try this skillet pizza recipe and here it is for you all to try.
When I was planning for this tawa pizza recipe I wanted to make it a healthy one as well. So I made the dough using multi grain flour, no yeast in this recipe and I have made a very thin crust with loads of veggies and less cheese. Again these are just my preference. You can by all means make a real deal pizza on skillet. See notes in recipe card.
To make skillet pizza recipe without yeast I have used homemade multi grain flour that I use for roti. It worked very well for me. You can use regular wheat flour or maida too. The dough for skillet pizza is similar to butter naan dough. You have to make sure that the dough is rested for at least 3 hours to get a nice soft yet crispy crust. Also I have used less cheese here compared to standard amount. I used whatever veggies I had on hand for toppings. This is a thin crust pizza. You can roll the base as thin or thick you like.

Step by step skillet pizza recipe
1.Take multigrain flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and soda in a mixing bowl.
2. Add oil, curd and mix well.
3.Add water slowly and knead to a very soft, smooth and pliable dough. Rest the dough for 3-6 hours.
4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
5. Heat a heavy cast iron skillet or tava over medium heat. heat for 5-7 minutes. The heavier the tawa the better the pizza.
6. Now take one dough ball and roll into thin circle.
7. With a fork prick here and there on the rolled base
8. Place the rolled base on the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is half cooked.
9. Flip the base and quickly assemble the pizza. First spread the sauce and then add the veggies. Next the seasoning. Then some grated cheese. Finally drizzle some olive oil over the cheese.
10. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes in low heat. Once the cheese melts and aroma wafts out the pizza is ready. Slice and serve skillet pizza warm or hot.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups multi grain flour or whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of baking soda
- 3 tablespoons curd
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt
- For topping
- Sliced vegetables
- Pizza sauce
- Oregano seasoning
- Chili flakes
- Grated cheese
- Olive oil
Instructions

Notes
2. DO not apply oil or butter on skillet directly
3. Use a heavy cast iron skillet for making this pizza
4. You can roll the base thick if you prefer
