I have few weekly tasks that I thoroughly enjoy. One among them is to make stash of healthy on the snacks for my family. I often make a jar of peanut butter, nutella, green chutney, chili chutney, granola,chivda and either these bliss balls or these energy bars.
Homemade energy balls are the best on the go snack for toddlers and kids. You need just some sweet dates and a mix of your preferred nuts and seeds to make energy balls. Furthermore you can roll these bliss balls in cocoa or cacao powder, nuts powder or coconut powder also.
Bliss Balls Ingredients
To make bliss balls I usually use dates and figs as the base. You can use medjool dates or ajwa dates to make these energy balls sweeter. Just make sure your dates are soft and you can process them easily.
Other ingredients for bliss balls are totally your choice. I rotate between
- almonds
- walnuts
- pistachios
- pecans
- chia seeds
- hemp seeds
- flax seeds
- sesame seeds
- sunflower seeds
- pumpkin seeds
Here I have used dates, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cacao powder, sunflower seeds. I have rolled the balls over cacao powder and pistachio powder.
How To Make Bliss Balls For Kids
For making bliss balls you can either toast the nuts are use raw nuts. I have used toasted nuts and seeds for flavor.
Dry roast the nuts and seeds for 5-10 minutes in lowest flame. Let cool and set aside.
Add all the ingredients into food processor and blitz until the whole mixture comes together as a solid mass.
Make small balls and roll over cacao powder or powdered nuts or coconut powder. Serve as required.
Store energy balls in airtight container. Keeps well for a week.
Some Tips and Variations
Use sweet dates like medjool or ajwa for these energy balls.
If your dates are dry, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes.
You can even use figs along with dates.

Ingredients
- 25 dried dates
- 15 almonds roasted
- 15 walnuts roasted
- 2 tablespoons pistachios
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
- 2 tabespoons sunflower seeds
- 4 tablespoons cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered pistachios for rolling the bliss balls
- 1/4 cup cacoa powder for rolling the bliss balls
Instructions
- Dry roast the nuts and seeds well for 10 minutes in low flame.
- Add dates, roasted nuts, cacao powder, vanilla in a food processor and blitz few times.
- Make small balls out of the mixture and roll over cacao or pistachio powder. Store airtight.
