Pesto pizza recipe with step by step photos. Today I am sharing a very delicious, one of its kind pizza recipe that uses fresh basil pesto as sauce instead of regular pizza sauce. Basil pesto pizza recipe was in my to do list for a long time. I have tasted pesto pizza in a friend’s place and loved it so much. The flavor of fresh basil pesto along with olive oil is quite unique and nice in this basil pesto pizza recipe.
To make pesto pizza recipe, I made the pizza base with 75 % whole wheat flour and 25 % maida. I bake pizza very often at home, so mostly I stick to whole wheat flour, but when making this basil pesto pizza recipe, I was out of whole wheat flour and had to adjust by adding some maida. I hand tossed the dough and made a thin crust pizza base for this pesto pizza. For topping I used some colored bell peppers, baby corn and halved cherry tomatoes. I also added more cheese than I usually would so the pesto pizza turned out to be more rich, colorful and very very tasty. The whole pizza was gone within minutes!

Pesto pizza recipe with step by step photos.
1. Make pizza dough as explained in this post. I have given step by step detailed explanation of making pizza base in this post. You can use 100% maida or wheat flour or combination of both.
2. Take the raised pizza dough and punch back lightly. Knead again slightly. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions.
3. Preheat oven to 220C for 10 minutes. Roll one portion into a thin circle for making thin crust pizza. Carefully transfer the rolled base to a pizza plate or baking tray. I directly hand tossed the pizza base on the pizza plate. Prick the base here and there with a fork.
4. Apply some olive oil all over the base and spread well. Then add the pesto sauce and spread well all over the base.
5. Now add some grated cheese all over the base.
6. Now arrange the toppings. Add some chili flakes and oregano seasoning all over the pizza. Top with more grated cheese.
7. Place the arranged pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes till the cheese bubbles and the bottom of the pizza is hallow. wait for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve basil pesto pizza hot sliced into wedges.
