This paneer pizza is one of my best homemade pizza recipes that tastes yum. The base is made of whole wheat flour and the toppings are marinated paneer and veggies. For sauce it is my super simple yet delicious homemade pizza sauce. However there are many variations you can make with this recipe. Keep reading for full recipe with tips and variations.
We love pizza very much at our home. I bake pizzas for dinner may be once or twice a month. I make everything from scratch, the base, sauce and all. Once you try baking pizzas at home from scratch you may not go back for the cafe or pizzeria ones.
Few delicious varieties of pizza I make at home along with this paneer pizza are pesto pizza, white sauce pizza, cheese crust pizza, skillet pizza, roti pizza, cheese burst pizza.
Making pizza at home is really easy with a bit of planning. Whenever I plan to bake pizza for dinner, I make the sauce either in the morning or a day before. I also make the dough in the afternoon and let it leaven.
Once you have the base and sauce assembling pizza is real fun. You can easily have the kids assemble the pizza. My kid loves to spread the sauce and arrange toppings so I let her do that always.
You can serve paneer pizza as dinner or lunch with a side of veggie salad and some garlic bread. This also goes well as snack with ginger tea or mint tea or milkshakes. I sometimes serve a small portion of soup, some roasted or grilled veggies, pizza and finish with espresso.

This paneer pizza recipe is a very different from the tandoori flavored pizza. Here the paneer pieces are just mixed with some chili flakes and dried herbs. In tandoori pizza we typically make a paneer tikka marinade and use it as topping.
The base of this paneer pizza is same as my whole wheat pizza. This whole wheat pizza base recipe is a very simple one. The dough doubles up and bakes beautifully with soft texture and very crispy edges. If you want to make very crispy crust you can roll the base very thin. Next the sauce I have used here is my go to easy homemade pizza sauce. Though I call it pizza sauce it is a very versatile sauce that I use for pastas, flavored rice and many more. You can also use this marinara sauce, pesto or roasted bell pepper sauce for paneer pizza.
The toppings used for this pizza are some assorted veggies and paneer cubes doused in dried herbs. As I said above this pizza is different from tandoori paneer tikka pizza. Here we just mix the paneer cubes in herbs and chili flakes.
How To Make Paneer Pizza
Making whole wheat pizza dough
Combine 2 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast and 1/2 cup lukewarm water in a small bowl. Mix very well. It will froth a little.
Now add yeast water, wheat flour, dried herbs, minced garlic, chili flakes, olive oil in wide bowl. Mix very well.
Add as little water as required and make a smooth dough. Knead well for 12-15 minutes and make a soft, supple dough.
Cover and let the dough raise for 60-90 minutes.
Preparing sauce & toppings
Make pizza sauce and keep it ready. You can also use any good quality store bought sauce.
Blanch baby corn in salted water for 5 minutes. Cut into cubes.
Rinse and cut bell peppers, onions and tomatoes into cubes.
Chop paneer into bite sized cubes and take in a mixing bowl. Add a pinch of salt, chili flakes and mixed herbs. Mix well and set aside for 15 minutes. You can do all this prep work while the dough is raising.
Assembling and baking paneer pizza.
Preheat oven at 200 C or 400 F.
Take leavened dough and knead it again for a minute.
Grease two 8″or 9″ pizza pans well with olive oil and sprinkle some wheat flour all over.
Divide the dough into two equal parts. Place a dough ball in the greased tray and spread into a round.
I usually hand toss the dough as it is easy fir me. Alternately you can roll the dough a board with rolling pin and gently transfer to the greased pizza pan.
Now spread required amount of sauce.
Place cheese bits all over as seen.
Next arrange the marinated paneer cubes.
Also arrange the veggies and add more cheese as required. Add pizza seasoning and bake in the hot oven for 18-22 minutes.
Once done, remove from oven and let cool for few minutes.
slice and serve paneer pizza warm or hot.
Tips For Making Paneer Pizza
Yeast- Always use very good quality yeast for any pizza or bread recipe. Make sure the yeast you use is in its prime. Here I have used active instant yeast. If you want to use active dry yeast you will have to proof it a bit with sugar in lukewarm water.
Flour-You can use wheat flour or plain flour or a mix of both as preferred. Also I would like to state that with well leavened and kneaded sough, whole wheat base does not turn hard or chewy or had any woody taste. In fact we prefer whole wheat base at our home more for its flavor and taste. Just make sure you are using the finest yeast in correct quantity and knead the dough for at least 12 minutes.
Pizza sauce– my suggestion is homemade any day. Nothing can beat the flavor of fresh homemade pizza sauce. If you are using store bought please take a look at the ingredients and go for the better ones. Also if pizza sauce is unavailable you can just combine 1/4 cup plain tomato sauce, some dried herbs and minced garlic for instant pizza sauce for paneer pizza
Baking whole wheat base- usually whole wheat dough takes a bit more time than plain flour dough. Mine usually gets done in 19-20 minutes. Here I have given the time frame from 18-22 minutes as every oven is different and so is the quality of flour used.
Vegan paneer pizza- You can use tofu instead of paneer and vegan mozzarella cheese for vegan paneer pizza.

Ingredients
For making paneer pizza dough
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons curd or sour cream
- salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes optional
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic optional
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs optional
For seasoned paneer
- 1/2 cup cubed paneer
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs
- pinch of salt
Other toppings and ingredients for paneer pizza
- 1/2 cup cubed onions, bell peppers, baby corns and tomatoes
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese grated or bits
- pizza seasoning as needed
- chili flakes as needed
Instructions

Notes

- Vegans can use tofu instead of paneer and vegan mozzarella cheese.
