To make barfi recipe I have used unrefined sugar. You can even use cane sugar or regular white sugar. I have used some nuts for garnish.

How to make barfi recipe with step by step photos.
Bring the mawa to room temperature and crumble it well. Take the crumbled mawa in a greased pan and add sugar.
Mix well and start heating.
Cook in low flame for 8-10 minutes until the burfi mixture turns into a soft mass. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
Transfer the burfi mixture into a greased plate or parchment paper. Spread and level with a spatula. Cool down and cut into pieces.
Store and serve barfi as required.
