So how does a salad with pineapple sounds? Appealing to you? If you have tried it earlier you probably know how delicious it is.

Never heard of pineapple salsa? Its about time you tasted it 🙂 If you have a pineapple handy, it will be ready in minutes. You probably have all the other ingredients you need. Let’s go!

Pineapple is my favorite fruit just like mangoes. This tropical fruit is so versatile, tastes best on its own as well you can cook it in multiple ways like pineapple chutney, rasam, pineapple mousse, pina colada, popsicles etc.

In this pineapple salsa recipe, sweet pineapple comes together with ingredients like onions, jalapenos, lime juice. So delicious with burst of flavor. We just love to scoop this salsa with homemade nachos chips.

This is a no cook recipe and the only task here is to chop the ingredients. While you can use a food processor, I prefer to chop the pineapples manually.

The prep time and total time for making this recipe is 15-20 minutes depending on the chopping time.

This Pineapple Salsa Is

Pineapple Salsa Ingredients

Pineapple– Ripe sweet fresh pineapple works well for this salsa with pineapple. Canned pineapples miss that crunch and wonderful flavor burst and not suitable for pineapple salsa recipes.

Pineapple is the star ingredient for this salsa recipe, so make sure to pick the best one.

Onions– I prefer to use red onion in this recipe. They have a sharp flavor and spicy taste that perfectly balances the sweetness of pineapple.

However if you want mild flavor you can use white or yellow onions instead of red onion

Jalapenos– Use one or two as per taste. You can also add a serrano pepper for more spice. If jalapenos are not available you can use any variety of green chili.

Bell pepper– bell peppers add a wonderful crunch and slight sweet taste to this salsa recipe. I have used sweet red peppers, you can also use orange or yellow bell peppers.

Cilantro leaves– Cilantro leaves are a must in any salsa. They add so much flavor this salad. Add as much as you like.

Salt and pepper– Freshly cracked black peppercorns is best for this salsa. Use a pepper mill and crack some just before serving. Add salt to taste.

Lime juice– lime juice is that one ingredient that balances all the others and rounds off the flavor. To make a delicious salsa that is truly Mexican, lime juice is your best friend 🙂

Apart from adding the quantity given in the recipe, you can add a splash while serving. Also you can place few wedges so that individuals can add more to their serving of salsa.

Recipe Notes & Tips

Use fresh pineapple– fresh pineapple is perfect for this recipe. Use fresh, ripe and sweet pineapple for this. A ripe pineapple has a golden hue, smells real good and gives in a bit when you squeeze.

Dicing pineapple– Finer the better. You can use a food processor but I prefer to dice them using a knife. If you are making for a crowd, just use a food processor.

You can use pre cut pineapple slices from the stores and dice them finely to save some time from peeling and coring the pineapple.

You can totally alter the quantity of any ingredient here. Love onions, feel free to add more. Want to reduce bell peppers, go ahead.

You can double or triple the recipe.
