Instant oats idli is a perfect breakfast if you are looking for something healthy yet delicious and satiating. There is nothing like a plate of piping hot soft idli with sambar for breakfast. These instant idli with oats is a good choice when you don’t have idli batter handy yet want to have idli 🙂 A bonus here is it is good for weight watchers too. Here is how to make oats idli recipe.

instant oats idli recipe

This is a very quick oats idli recipe that can be prepared in a jiffy. You can mix up everything and let the batter to raise for 15 minutes. Once the batter is raised it takes 10-12 minutes for steaming the oats idli.  Though I made these oats idli just like rava idli, I should say these were even more porous and spongy as you could see in the pictures. You should use quick cooking oats for this oats idli. This recipe uses fruit salt (eno). If you want to avoid eno just use sour curd and let the batter sit for 30 minutes.

To make oats idli recipe here I have used roasted and ground oats. Along with that roasted rava is also added,I have tried these oats idli recipe with and with out fruit salt. I liked both the versions. To make oats idli even more quick, you can roast and grind quick cooking oats in bulk when you have time and store airtight. You can do the same with rava too. When you have roasted and ground oats in hand you can make oats idli recipe, otas dosa recipe in a jiffy, you can also use ground oats as thickening agent for soups, roll the cutlets over it etc.

Serve oats idli with chutney or sambar.

Here is how to make oats idli recipe with step by step photos.
