What Is Aloo 65?
Aloo 65 or potato 65 gets its name from famous chicken 65. There are many 65 recipes for vegetarians like gobi 65, paneer 65, mushroom 65 where you can substitute chicken.
65 recipes are essentially crisp batter coated deep fried/shallow fried topped with fried and crushed curry leaves.
There are many notions like these recipes were invented during 1965, 65 chilies are used for spicing the recipe and many more.
How To Make Aloo 65 or Potato 65?
To make aloo 65 at home you need to make 65 masala. To make 65 masala just mix flour, salt, chili powder, crushed ginger, dry spice powders as mentioned in the recipe. Add some water and make lump free batter.
Next par boil and peel the potatoes. Cube them, deep them in prepared batter and deep fry. Serve with fried curry leaves and lemon wedges.
Unlike gobi 65, paneer 65, the aloo 65 is vegan recipe. I have not added yogurt in the batter. However you can use curd for some tangy taste and flavor. You can also use cashew curd.
Serve aloo 65 hot with green chutney or red chutney.
Step By Step Aloo 65 Recipe
1. Par boil potatoes,peel and cut into bite size cubes. I pressure cooked the potatoes without water for 3 whistles.
2. Take corn flour,maida,salt, chili powder,crushed ginger,chaat masala powder, coriander powder, roasted cumin powder and turmeric powder in a mixing bowl. Add water and make a thick batter without lumps.
3. Heat 3 tablespoons oil in a shallow frying pan. Mix the potato cubes in the batter and gently coat each piece with the batter.
4. Slide the potato cube in the hot oil,do not over crowd the pan,shallow fry the potatoes until golden brown from both sides.
5. Once you are done with the potatoes,in the same oil fry the curry leaves,crush slightly and add to the fried potatoes.
6. Mix well,add lemon juice and toss well. Serve aloo 65 hot.

Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes
- 4 tablespoons maida
- 3 tablespoons corn flour
- 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 10-12 curry leaves
- Salt
- 3 tablespoons oil
Instructions

2. You can use 2 tablespoons curd and reduce water for making batter.
3. Shallow frying takes time so make sure to fry all the sides nicely.
4. The color is light here as I have not added food color.
