To make bread roll recipe a simple spiced mashed potatoes are stuffed inside the bread slices. They are further rolled and fried. You can choose to deep fry or shallow fry. I have shallow fried here. You can even bake them.
I like to keep the stuffing for this recipe simple. It is just mashed potatoes mixed with basic spice powders and salt. We prefer this simple one over the other options. Spiced mashed potatoes are commonly used in Indian recipes like aloo paratha, batata vada, potato lollipop, pav sandwich recipes.

Ingredients You Will Need
Bread- Use fresh bread for easy rolling. If your bread is stale or even a day old, rolling becomes difficult even after dipping in water. I prefer classic white bread for such snacks with bread. The slight sweetness and rich taste from white bread is excellent in such snacks. Brown or wheat bread simply does not make the cut. Having said that you can use brown or wheat bread if there are dietary restrictions.
Potatoes- use potatoes that mash well and have great flavor like russets (in US). Here I usually prefer to use new potatoes with nice golden skin. Some potatoes tend to be sweet and they simply spoil the taste. Instead of potatoes you can also use sweet potatoes, yam or raw banana too.
Spice powders- You can easily play with spice powders in this recipe. Just use whatever you have in hand and it will turn out good. Here I have used garam masala powder, chili powder, dried mango powder. You can also try pav bhaji masala powder, chana masala powder for a differen taste.
