Strawberry is one of my favorite fruits and I love making dishes with it. We love tasty strawberry recipes like

These strawberry muffins also happen without fail during strawberry season. After all it is very easy, needs very less time and ingredients so why not make the most of red luscious berries lying around.

Make this fresh strawberry muffins today , a super easy recipe that needs 9 ingredients, 30 minutes from start to finish and tastes like million bucks. These bakery style muffins are so yum and flavorful. Toddlers and kids will especially love these muffins with bits of strawberries everywhere.

This is a super versatile recipe and you can many as many changes in the ingredients and flavorings as you like. While making for toddlers and kids you can easily replace plain flour with whole wheat flour in this muffin. You can also replace sugar with jaggery. Read on to know more variations you can make in this recipe.

Ingredients You Will Need

Strawberries

Fresh strawberries that are ripe, plump and sweet makes the best muffins. The sweeter the berries, less sugar you will need to add. You can also use frozen berries, just chop and add them in the batter. No need to thaw.

Yogurt

Yogurt or plain curd is added in good measure as this is an eggless muffin recipe. Curd or yogurt adds a wonderful texture to these muffins.

Sweetener

For this recipe, I have used organic unrefined cane sugar as in most of my recipes. You can also use regular granulated sugar, coconut sugar, jaggery powder for these muffins.

Oil

We use oil in this strawberry muffins recipe instead of butter. Adding oil makes these muffins absolutely moist and soft. You can melted butter of same measure but the muffins will be a bit hard and dense. I have used light olive oil. You can use any oil with mild flavor.

Flour

You can use plain flour as I did or whole wheat flour. If you are making this recipe for toddlers and kids as breakfast, I suggest you use whole wheat flour. You can even use mix of various grain flours.

How To Make Strawberry Muffins Step by Step

Preheat oven to 180 C or 350 F. Line a muffin tray with paper liners.

Wash and hull the strawberries. Chop them finely and sprinkle 1 teaspoon flour over them. Toss and set aside.

Combine oil and sugar in a mixing bowl. Whisk well until light.

Add yogurt and mix very well.

Now sift plain flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt over the wet ingredients and mix well. Do not over mix the batter.

Spoon in the batter into muffin liners and bake for 18-22 minutes.

Let cool for few minutes and serve strawberry muffins warm or at room temperature.

Strawberry Muffins Variations

Vegan Strawberry Muffins

To make strawberry muffins vegan, just replace yogurt with any vegan yogurt like cashew curd or soy curd.

With Almonds or Walnuts

To add some texture to the muffins you can add finely chopped roasted almonds or walnuts to the batter. Add the nuts while tossing the berries to the batter.

With Crumb Topping

Strawberry muffins tastes delicious with crumb topping. To make crumb topping combine 1/2 cup brown sugar with 2 tablespoons cold butter and mix well. Sprinkle this on the top of each muffins before baking. You can also add 2 tablespoons finely chopped toasted almonds to the crumb mixture.

Tips For Perfect Strawberry Muffins.

Use ripe and sweet berries that are not bruised for best flavor and texture

Adding flour to the chopped berries helps from the fruit sinking at the bottom.

  • 1 cup finely chopped strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon plain flour
  • 1/2 cup light olive oil
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
