How To Make Strawberry Milkshake
Pick ripe, red strawberries and soak them water mixed with few drops of vinegar or salt for few minutes.
Hull the berries and chop them roughly. Place the chopped berries in freezer for an hour. Along with berries also freeze 1 cup milk. Using frozen or almost frozen milk in milkshakes will yield a very creamy thick shake. Also place the glasses you want to serve the milkshake in freezer for 15 minutes.
When you are ready to make milkshake bring the frozen ingredients out. To a blender jar, add frozen berries and milk. You can add few drops of 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract too. I used vanilla ice cream so skipped adding extract.
Blend until smooth.
Now add 2 cups soft ice cream (1 pint) and sugar to taste. If you prefer your milkshake mildly sweet, skip sugar.
Blend again for few seconds until ice cream and milk are well combined. Transfer to the cold glasses and serve strawberry milkshake immediately.
Berry Milkshake Without Ice Cream
To make a strawberry milkshake without ice cream you can use fresh cream or whipped cream if you have them handy. If not just use frozen milk but do note that the milkshake will not be as thick as the ones made with ice cream. Also you will have to add sugar to taste here.
Wash, hull, chop and freeze the berries for an hour. To a blender jar add the berries, frozen milk. 3 tablespoons sugar and whipped cream if using.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Vegan Strawberry Milkshake With
In this variation, we are using homemade almond milk and some almonds along with berries. This is more of a breakfast smoothie than classic milkshake.
Wash, hull and roughly chop the strawberries. Add to a mixer jar along with almonds and sugar.
Blend until it turns smooth.
Add chilled almond milk and blend again.
A good strawberry milkshake starts with a good ice cream. Let’s fact it you can of course make this drink without ice cream but it is just not the same. For a super rich and indulgent treat make this recipe with ice cream and a good one at that.
While many recipes use strawberry ice cream for making milkshake, I like to use vanilla ice cream for a subtle not over powering strawberry flavor. Use whichever you like.
Frozen milk or at the least super cold milk is what you want for that creamiest milkshake. If you have not tried this tip, please do once to know what I mean.
Always use full fat milk for rich milkshake. If you want to make a skinny shake go for low fat milk.
Use a high power blender for a smooth creamy shake. Also blending the berries first will save you from biting into tart berries while enjoying a creamy milkshake.
Next, I suggest you thaw the ice cream for 10-15 minutes or until it turns a bit soft before blending.
To make this drink more special you can top the milkshake with some strawberry syrup or strawberry sauce before serving. You can also pipe some whipped cream and add some sprinkles or chocolate shavings before serving.

You can also throw in some blanched almonds or pistachios, few soft dates or figs.
This milkshake tastes good when served fresh. I do not recommend storing it for more than 3-4 hours. If you have leftovers freeze it for a day at the maximum and thaw in refrigerator before serving.
