I love easy bakes that do not require a lot of ingredients. You know how we sometimes just need to bake a cake and nothing can put us off more than falling short of ingredients ? That’s the reason most of cake recipes are easy, one bowl recipes with just a handful of ingredients. This chocolate cake recipe is also no different. You need just good quality flour, cocoa powder, some sugar and oil for this cake. That’s it. You don’t even chocolate for this chocolate cake. How cool is that?
Also you will love this cake not only for the ease but for its taste, its flavor and amazing soft crumb. If you are used to cakes that turn rock hard on refrigeration, this cake will be a sweet surprise to you as it stays soft and tender even after few days in fridge. Using oil is the secret here.
This chocolate cake is deliciousness on its own and you need no frosting or any other topping for this. The flavor of chocolate is so deep and rich. A hearty slice with coffee is just good. Ingredients For Making Chocolate Cake
Cocoa powder– The flavor of this cake will exactly be same as the cocoa powder you use. Here I have used dark unsweetened cocoa powder. You can use Cadbury’s or Hershey’s. Dutch processed cocoa powder will also work very well in this recipe.
Flour- Plain flour or wheat flour as you like. In this recipe I have used a small amount of corn four as it makes the cake very light. Do note that when you use wheat flour, the quantity of liquids will vary and also the cake will be a bit dense.
Sugar- Any sugar you prefer really. I don’t use castor sugar or refined sugars in my recipes anymore. I use raw organic sugar and my cakes turn out just fine. So refined, granulated, raw or castor, any sugar is good in this recipe.
Oil- Again you can use vegetable or canola oil but I only use light olive oil in my cake recipes. You will not taste olive oil in the cake, not even slightest.
Curd– Curd or plain yogurt , use fresh thick curd and not sour ones.
The other ingredients are a pinch of salt, baking powder, soda and good quality vanilla.
