We are big fans of milkshakes with fruits. I never miss to make in season fruit milkshakes with apple, strawberry, chikoo or healthy ones like dates or carrot milkshakes. Occasional rich ones like vanilla, chocolate, almond milkshakes are also our favorite.
Usually I make classic mango milkshake with ice cream but this year our favorite milkshake got a makeover 🙂 I am so hooked by the creamy texture and taste of almond milk and have been experimenting it with a lot.

I usually make a mango smoothie with coconut milk but this one with almond milk is just like the ones made with ice cream. A healthy treat that is so indulgent.

I often make milkshakes as after school snack or 4 pm pick me up. Usually this is the time when I crave something sweet and during summers chilled milkshake is my go to choice.
I try to keep it healthy for my kid and us as well by usually not using ice cream (expect occasional treats) and use more fruits, less sugar.
If you are making these for special occasions you can go overboard and dress up your milkshakes with ice cream scoops, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles etc.

Which Mangoes are best for milkshake? Sweet ripe mangoes that are less fibrous are what you want to use for milkshake. Not only milkshake but any recipe you make with ripe mangoes like mango cream, lassi, mousse. I personally prefer alphonso mango for its color in these recipes.
Tip for making super thick and creamy shake without ice cream? two words guys, frozen milk! I froze almond milk in ice cubes tray and added. I have also added some chilled almond milk for the blender to get going. For any milkshake without ice cream try and use frozen milk.
What are the choices of sweeteners for this shake? Here I have used organic raw sugar. You can use regular sugar, coconut sugar, maple or palm sugar.
Can this vegan mango milkshake be stored? Not really,I suggest you consume this drink as soon as you make it. May be you can refrigerate for couple of hours for chilling.
If you don’t have almond milk you can use coconut milk, soy milk or even rice milk in this recipe.
If you want to make regular milkshake you can easily swap almond milk with regular milk here.
Step by Step Method
Peel and roughly chop the mangoes after removing the stone.
Freeze one cup almond milk in ice cubes tray or you can use chilled almond milk as well.
To a blender jar add chopped mangoes, vanilla, frozen milk cubes, sugar and 1/4 cup chilled almond milk.
Blend until smooth.
Transfer to serving glass and serve immedietly.

- 1.5 cups chopped ripe sweet mangoes
- 1 cup almond milk frozen or chilled plus 1/4 cup for blending
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
