I have made as well as tasted few variations of mango salads at home and buffets. This easy recipe of mango salad I am sharing today is our top favorite. A very simple recipe that truly captures the essence of summer without over powering dressing or other ingredients.
This is a dessert salad with sweetest ripe mangoes, cherries and strawberries. I have also added few walnuts which you can replace with almonds or pecans. The dressing here is a simple mix of lemon juice, raw sugar and dash of ground pepper.
We received a whole crate of delicious organic mangoes as gift from friend’s farm. Along with loads of lemonades, ice creams, mango milkshakes, mastani, frozen yogurts I also made this mango salad few times. I usually don’t follow a set recipe for this. I am sharing here a base on which you can build your own salad.

This delicious salad just bursts with mango flavor. Slight tart cherries and strawberries perfectly compliment the sweet mangoes. Walnuts balances the flavor and provides texture.
Once prepared chill the salad in refrigerator for an hour before serving for flavors to mingle.
There are many variations you can make with mango salad recipe. Each variation is tasty on its own but this simple one will always be my pick.
Which mangoes are good for salad?
For this recipe pick sweet ripe yet firm mangoes. You should be able to slice them without squishing. Also mangoes that are less fibrous like alphonso is good for salad.
What other fruits can I add in this mango salad?
Any sweet fruit like apple, strawberries, cherries will be good in this salad. You can also add some pineapple for lovely tropical flavored salad. Another delicious option is ripe and firm avocados. Mango avocado salad is very delicious and rich.
For any salad recipe always taste the fruit before adding. With ripe and sweet fruits you can add very less sugar or other sweetener.
What are the other add-ons I can add in this salad?
Along with fruits you can add nuts like walnuts, almond, pecans in this salad. You can also add seeds like sunflower seeds, flax seeds or pumpkin seeds.

Mango Salad Dressing Ideas
Lemon-sugar-pepper: This is my go to mango salad dressing mostly. The mixture of lemon juice and sugar with a dash of pepper is very flavorful yet subtle that lets the main ingredients of the salad shine. I do not prefer a over powering dressing for any salad.
Chili- Vinegar dressing: You can mix some chopped green chilies, some chili flakes and sugar in vinegar. Use this dressing if you want spicy kick in your salad.
How To Make Mango Salad
To make mango salad dressing: Combine 3 tablespoons lemon juice, 3 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder well in a small bowl. Use white pepper powder for milder flavor.
To make the salad: Pick ripe sweet mangoes. Rinse, peel and chop finely discarding the stone. Pit and halve the cherries. Hull and slice strawberries thinly.
Add chopped mangoes to a bowl.
Add pitted and halved cherries, sliced berries.
Follow with chopped walnuts.
Pour the prepared dressing and mix well. Top with pom seeds and chopped mint leaves.
Mix well and chill for 30 minutes or an hour.
Serve mango salad as dessert.

Ingredients
For mango salad dressing
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 teaspoons raw sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
For Salad
- 2 cups chopped ripe mangoes
- 6 strawberries hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup pitted and halved cherries
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 tablespoons pomegranates pearls
- 2 tablespoons chopped mint leaves
Instructions
To make mango salad dressing
- Combine 3 tablespoons lemon juice, 3 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder well in a small bowl. Use white pepper powder for milder flavor.
