Sapodila or chikoo is a fruit that lends itself beautifully in milkshakes, smoothies, ice creams etc. It has a very rich and creamy texture that you don’t have to add ice cream or whipped cream make creamier desserts. Just with a splash of milk and sugar you can make creamiest shake with chikoo.
During sapota season we go through a lot of it at our home. We love to east ripe sweet sapota as such but I do make simple desserts like this chikoo shake, easy kulfi, ice cream. I also add ripe chikoo in fruit salad, custard recipes.
Sapota unlike some fancy fruits, is locally grown, inexpensive and a power house of nutrition. I usually buy organic sapotas that are so sweet with a wonderful flavor. When your produce is really good, you don’t any ingredients or much time to turn into something more delicious. As in case of this chikoo shake you just need some milk and sugar along with ripe fruit. If your fruit is sweet enough, you can even leave out sugar or reduce the amount.
