Here is how to make vegan avocado mousse with dark chocolate.
We love avocados at home and I buy them whenever I come across good organic ones. Often times I just add it to the roti dough or make milkshake with it. Sometimes I make this delicious avocado mousse or guacamole, salad, or avo cheese toast too. Avocado is one fruit that goes well in both savory and sweet recipes.
An Avocado Mousse Recipe So Good!
This avocado mousse is real gold. You can literally whip up this mousse in 5 minutes. All you need to do is select perfectly ripe avocados, melt chocolate and blend everything together. Topped with some whipped cream (non dairy for vegans) and a piece of chocolate, there you have the best mousse ever π
As with any recipe calling for very few ingredients, here also pick the finest quality dark chocolate and ripe avocados. Do note that you will not taste avocados in this mousse. It is purely for silky and smooth texture. The mousse will exactly taste like the chocolate you use. So we need very good quality chocolate and some potent unsweetened cocoa powder.
You can easily play with the ratio of avocados to the chocolate. We like our avocado mousse really dark with full of chocolate flavor. So I have used 1 medium avocado and 200 grams of dark chocolate for 3 servings. If you want more airy and lighter mousse with mild chocolate flavor use 2 small avocados and 150 grams chocolate.
This vegan avocado mousse is an excellent make ahead dessert. Also it takes minimum effort and time making it one of the easiest dessert choice for large scale. Once whipped up just portion it out into small dessert bowls or ramekins and set for at least three hours.
You can serve this vegan avocado mousse topped with some unsweetened whipped cream or toasted chopped nuts or some fresh fruits like strawberry, mangoes.

Best make ahead dessert for parties.
Mousse recipes are my favorite go to party desserts. I like to whip up egg less ones like mango mousse, chocolate mousse, strawberry mousse as weekend treats. This avocado mousse is a favorite mousse that I make for dessert occasionally.
The two main points for silky airy avocado mousse is to use perfectly ripe avocados and melt the chocolate properly. Using a double boiler or two fitting vessels, melt the chocolate in low flame until its smooth.
Once you have the melted chocolate ready, all you have to do is whip everything together in your food processor or mixer grinder. Use whipping option if available else just blending will do. If you feel the mixture is very thick you can splash some warm water or milk. See the pictures for texture reference.
How To Make Avocado Mousse

Peel and chop the avocado into chunks, discarding the stone. Take chopped avocados, cocoa powder and powdered sugar in a mixer or food processor jar.
Blend or whip until smooth.
Add the melted dark chocolate and whip again.
Portion out the prepared avocado mousse in dessert bowls or glasses. Set in refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
Top with unsweetened whipped cream, nuts, chocolate and serve chilled.
Tips For Making Avocado Mousse
Avocados- Use well ripe avocados for perfect light and airy avocado mousse. If the avocados are over ripe the texture will be compromised.
Chocolate- Use finest quality chocolate. I have used curvature chocolate. You can also use semi sweet, bitter sweet or even milk chocolate for sweeter mousse. If you are using milk or semi sweet chocolate you may have reduce the quantity of sweetener.
Sweetener- The sweetener used here for avocado mousse is powdered organic raw sugar. You can also use icing sugar or agave or maple syrup. Even powdered coconut or palm sugar can be used. On the other hand if the sweetness in chocolate is enough, you can skip sugar in avocado mousse. Just while serving add a dollop of sweetened whipped cream or dusting of icing sugar.
