Today I am sharing with you all my easy avocado shake recipe that yields one of the best smoothies. It is super rich, thick, lush and creamy. Best of all it is made of just 4 simple ingredients and customizable to taste.
Though it is a rich and indulgent shake, this smoothie is also a perfect breakfast material 🙂 It is made of healthier ingredients like avocado, coconut cream and just 1 tablespoon sugar for three servings. Definitely healthier than sugar laden store bought smoothies right?

Ingredients For Avocado Shake
Avocado– use perfectly ripe avocados for best tasting shake. If you have frozen avocados they can be easily used here, in fact the shake will be creamier and more cold with frozen fruit.
Just make sure your fruit is not under or overripe. Please check my notes on how to prepare avocados for recipes.
Milk– You can literally use any variety for this shake. Here I have used homemade coconut milk. I chilled it for 3 hours to make it thick and cold. You can also use dairy, almond, oat, soy or rice milk for this recipe. Just make sure it is thick and cold.
Sweetener– Again any sweetener of choice can be used. I have used organic raw sugar here but you can add honey (not vegan), maple, regular sugar or any sweetener. Just add add to taste.
Vanilla– Pure vanilla extract or bean powder is something I highly recommend in this shake. Avocado lends a wonderful creamy texture and a pleasant color but you will not taste much of it in this shake so add a very good quality vanilla for flavor.
For a super thick avocado shake you can freeze the coconut milk and scooped avocado for an hour and then blend. You can also add a small frozen banana.
How To Prepare Avocados
Avocados are very delicious, healthy and full of good fats so it is a wise choice to add it to our diets. However they are somewhat tricky to pick and use, they go from firm to ripe to spoiled in very less time. Here are some tips that will help you to prepare avocados.
Selecting Avocado- First step is to make sure your avocado is well ripe for cutting it. If you press it should yield to gentle pressure and peel should be easy to peel. Avocados do not ripe in tree, so you can buy them firm or raw and place on the counter, loosely covered in a brown paper bag and let them ripe.
Once they are ripened store them in refrigerator for a day. So once you have a ripe one, here is how to cut it and use it.
Cutting Avocados- Use a large chef’s knife to cut this fruit. Place the fruit on a cutting board and cut into half around the seed. With firm hands twist it around to remove the pit.
Scooping the pulp- Now using a spoon or ice cream scoop, remove the pulp gently from the peel. If you are using for salads, just remove the peel and cut the fruit finely.
How To Make Avocado Milkshake Recipe
Cut open and ripe avocado, remove the pulp from the peel and chop it coarsely. I used 1 large avocado weighing about 220 grams for three servings of this shake.
Add chopped avocados, chilled thick coconut milk and sugar to taste in a high power blender jar.
Blend in high speed until everything is combined into a thick creamy shake.
Transfer avocado milkshake to serving glasses and serve immediately.
Serving Suggestions & Storage
Serve avocado shake as soon as you make it for best taste. Serve as breakfast with a toast or pancake or waffle. You can serve this as afterschool snack or refreshing afternoon snack during summers.
If you have leftovers you can freeze it for 2 days, thaw in refrigerator and serve.
